Think about what would happen to the earth if the floodgates of heaven, containing a lot of suspended water, rained down all at once for forty days, plus the water stored within the earth erupted to cover the earth, and the volcanoes of the earth went off, and the high mountains today were much, much lower as to be hills comparatively. Now add in the moon's effect as a tide without a shore to stop it, now becoming a tsunami, with all of the destructive aspects of water with varves, turbidites, churning all plant and animal life, all sediments, all pumice and ash, spinning and churning it for months, then settling according to water content of particular creatures, particular plants, according to their mobility, their location in the ecosystem, their ability to find rafts to temporarily float, their burial site and method.
That is the state of the top layers of the earth today, which contains, among other things:
- No worldwide unconformity; evidence of rapid deposition of layers
- Fossils laid out according to water content and ecosystem, with obvious exceptions
- Crossbedding of sediments worldwide
- Meteorites only in the top layers of the earth
- Grand Canyon formed from the breach of an inland lake
- Animal graveyards with prey and predator alike, smashed together
- Impossibly delicate creatures fossilized, along with coprolites, footprints, skin prints, feather prints, tail draggings, tracks, etc.
- Human artifacts and skeletons in all layers
- Large creatures unarticulated
- Bent layers of unbroken, solid rock
- Coal beds
- Oil and gas deposits
- Polystrate fossils
- Mud stone, sandstone, conglomerate rock
- Stasis in the fossil record
- Frozen deposits
- Fresh deposits not fossilized
- Former tropical world trapped in time
- Oxygen bubbles trapped in amber
- Fossil sea life on the tops of the mountains
And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.

- This is after one single task, to build an ark, by faith, for 120 years, having never seen rain or a flood
- Imagine the neighbors seeing him enter with the animals, mocking openly, some probably viciously and violently
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Genesis 7:2 [KJV])
Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
- These beasts by seven were not even originally mentioned when the other animals were, the ones by twos
- Seven is the number of perfection, completion
- It would be comprised of three pairs for breeding and one extra beast for sacrificing
- These clean beasts are for sacrifice after the Flood. There is no indication of how "clean" and "unclean" was determined as this is the first mention of it in the Bible, but God maybe allowed Noah to choose, or perhaps told him, or perhaps he knew what animal was sacrificed for coats for Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:
Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
(Genesis 7:3 [KJV])
Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
- It does not say what sort of fowls, but presumably clean ones and unclean, since they were to repopulate and you cannot repopulate with sacrificed fowls!

- One week to gather beasts and food into the Ark, with God's help
And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.
- After 120 years building, he does not rest until the entrance into the Ark
- The Flood is imminent now, the time frame is short
And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
- This is not to say he was not tired at all. He was probably exhausted
And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
- His wife and son's wives are not mentioned by name
Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth, There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
- These creatures were obviously commanded and driven by God; Noah did not have to gather them at all
- Two and two are mentioned, the odd seventh is not mentioned, because they were mentioned in the context above, indicating that they may have been separated from the pairs
- This could have been something Noah just did to keep them clean throughout, or not, but it seems to fit his character since thus far he has been so obedient
And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth. In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
- Right on time, like a fulfilled prophecy
- Water under the earth, and water canopy above, all broken at once
- The exact day God wanted this to happen, it does
And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
- Rain, all over the earth, nonstop, always heavy, for forty days, added to the fountains of the deep breaking up
In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;
- God wasted no time in starting the Flood waters
- When God says "120 years" HE means 120 years and no more, no less.
They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort.
- Again God repeats what is on the Ark, as sort of a way for us to keep track, keep a tally
And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.

And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.

And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.
- The draught of the ship is considered to be sizable, so this flood, just beginning, is going to be huge.
And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.

And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.
- All of the high hills under the whole heaven were covered
Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.
- This would be fifteen cubits about the tops of the mountains
And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
- All flesh, every creeping thing, every man-Universal Flood
All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.
- All that breathed repeated, all that was in the land
And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.
- Repeated all was destroyed, except Noah only and those in the ark.
And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days. One hundred fifty days of scouring the earth down to bedrock all day, every day. One major thing to notice thus far about Noah: HE HAS NOT YET SPOKEN ONE TIME, ON RECORD
