Daniel Chapter 12

One of the misconceptions that Christians  have they get from so-called "scholars".  Context in the Bible is everything to any passage.  Cultural context is also often part of that. However, when it comes to prophecy, not so much at all sometimes.  In other words, the prophets themselves and their culture can be completely irrelevant to the prophecy and Daniel shows this.  The fact that he himself did not understand the dreams and did not always have all of it explained to him means his cultural context was not part of the dream.

Chapters 10-12 are of the same vision

(Daniel 12:1 [KJV])
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
  • Michael stands for Israel
  • This is the same as Revelation in every way
  • This is the two resurrections, separated by 1,000 years in Revelation
  • This is about the future event for Daniel and us, the Great Tribulation
  • There are around 100,000,000 angels plus (Revelation 5:11) of various ranks, types (Cherubims, etc.)
MICHAEL
(Revelation 12:7 [KJV])
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

JACOB'S TROUBLE
(Jeremiah 30:7 [KJV])
Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

JACOB'S TROUBLE
(Matthew 24:21 [KJV])
For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

(Mark 13:19 [KJV])
For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

(Deuteronomy 4:30-31 [KJV])
When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;  (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

(Jeremiah 30:7 [KJV])
Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

(Ezekiel 20:34-38 [KJV])
And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out. And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face. Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD.
And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:  And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

(Ezekiel 22:18-22 [KJV])
Son of man, the house of Israel is to me become dross: all they are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver.  Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye are all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.
As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in mine anger and in my fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you.  Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof.  As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the LORD have poured out my fury upon you.

(Zechariah 13:8-9 [KJV])
And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.  And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

  • One third of all Israel was killed in the Holocaust
  • This is two thirds killed, one third spared!
ALL ISRAEL SHALL BE SAVED
(Romans 11:26 [KJV])
And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

(2 Corinthians 3:16 [KJV])
Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

(Isaiah 59:20 [KJV])
And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.

(Daniel 7:18 [KJV])
But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.

(Zechariah 12:10 [KJV])
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

(Jeremiah 30:7 [KJV])
Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

(Jeremiah 30:11 [KJV])
For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.

THE BOOK OF LIFE
(Revelation 3:5 [KJV])
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

(Revelation 20:12 [KJV])
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

(Revelation 21:27 [KJV])
And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

(Psalms 69:28 [KJV])
Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

(Malachi 3:16 [KJV])
Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

(Daniel 12:2 [KJV])
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
  • This is the glorified body for us, versus the physical body resurrection ready for punishment, for the unbelievers
  • We came from dust, at death we return to the dust, but for judgment sake or for eternal life we are resurrected from that dust
  • These do not have to happen (and do not) at the same time, these two resurrections
DUST
(Genesis 3:19 [KJV])
In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

RESURRECTION
(Revelation 20:5 [KJV])
But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

(Revelation 20:13-15 [KJV])
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

(2 Corinthians 5:10 [KJV])
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

(John 5:28-29 [KJV])
Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

(Daniel 12:3 [KJV])
And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
  • The wisdom is from God to believers
  • At this time, we all will shine like this with the Glory of God
(Matthew 5:16 [KJV])
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

(Matthew 13:43 [KJV])
Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

(Proverbs 11:30 [KJV])
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

(Daniel 12:4 [KJV])
But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
  • This is high speed, high stress, high technology living, only possible today
  • The knowledge of prophecy, specifically in Daniel, and the Bible itself are also very much increased in these days
  • This would be because of what we literally see with our eyes in this exciting time we live in
  • Daniel is sealed; Revelation is UNsealed
  • 1960-1970 doubled the amount of information
  • Today, imagine how fast it is doubling
  • Sending a color video across the world with a handheld device, through the air
  • Watch something on the other side of the world live.

(Daniel 12:5 [KJV])
Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.
  • The man in chapter 10 is now joined by two others
(Daniel 10:5 [KJV])
Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:

(Daniel 12:6 [KJV])
And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
  • Daniel does not have the book of Revelation, and wants to know the when here
  • He further does not know exactly when this is all going to pass, since it probably seems so impossible in his day

(Daniel 12:7 [KJV])
And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
  • Both hands up to Heaven=worship
  • This oath is ironclad, solid, guaranteed, so that you can live by it
  • This time, times and half a time is three and a half years
  • Israel is believed to finally have been broken, humbled, and turned to the LORD because of the Great Tribulation

(Daniel 12:8-9 [KJV])
And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
  • Daniel is asking how on earth all of this is going to possibly happen, perhaps again because his understanding of the vision is limited
  • He does not get a direct answer, and it is now sealed until our days as we are seeing it all come to pass.
(Daniel 12:10 [KJV])
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
  • This is for sure today, and a very accurate description of current events
  • Many wise in the church will see this all coming to pass and understand
  • This scenario is the perfect spiritual atmosphere for the anti-Christ to walk into and deceive so many
(1 Corinthians 2:14 [KJV])
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

(Revelation 1:3 [KJV])
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

(Daniel 12:11 [KJV])
And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
  • This is 1,260 days + 30 = 1,290 days: Thirty for SOMETHING (Judgment before the Millenial Kingdom?)
  • We do not know nor will we ever know......NO ONE KNOWS!

(Daniel 12:12 [KJV])
Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
  • 1,335 days now is 75 extra days to the last half of the Tribulation
  • There is no other explanation for this addition; no one knows to know what this is (it is sealed)
  • Whatever it is, there is a blessing for making to make it this far
  • It is probably the separation period on earth
  • "Blessed is he that waiteth"; Come, ye blessed of my Father,
(Matthew 25:32-34 [KJV])
And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

(Matthew 25:41 [KJV])
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

(Daniel 12:13 [KJV])
But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.
  • Daniel is told he will die not long after this, forget the fulfillment, he will not see it
  • He will be risen after the Great Tribultion, before the Millenial Kingdom

Daniel  /  Revelation Summary of the anti-CHRIST

(Daniel 8:25 [KJV])
And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

HE SHALL CAUSE CRAFT TO PROSPER IN HIS HAND
(Revelation 13:17 [KJV])
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

HE SHALL MAGNIFY HIMSELF IN HIS HEART
(Revelation 13:5 [KJV])
And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

FALSE PEACE
(Revelation 6:2-4 [KJV])
And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

STAND AGAINST THE PRINCE OF PRINCES
(Revelation 13:6 [KJV])
And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

Also I in the first year of Darius the Mede, even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him.
  • This is the angel, speaking here
  • He is strengthening Darius the Mede, not Daniel (Chapter 10 end)
  • He is merely speaking TO Daniel

Prophecy Given B.C. 534 Fulfillment
And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there
shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the
fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his
strength through his riches he shall stir up all
against the realm of Grecia. (Verse 2.)
See Ezra iv. 5-24. The three kings were :
Ahasuerus, Artaxerxes and Darius. Known in
history as Cambyses, Pseudo Smerdis and Darius
Hystaspis (not Darius the Mede). The fourth one
was Xerxes, who, as history tells us was immensely
rich. The invasion of Greece took place in 480 B. C.
And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule
with great dominion, and do according to his will.
(Verse 3.)
The successors of Xerxes are not mentioned. The
mighty king in this verse is the notable horn seen by
Daniel on the he-goat in chapter viii, Alexander the
Great. 335 B. C
And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those. (Verse 4.)

And the king of the south shall be strong, and one
of his princes; and he shall be strong above him,
and have dominion ; his dominion shall be a great
dominion. (Verse 5.)
His kingdom was plucked up for others besides those of his own family. Arideus, his brother, was made king in Macedonia; Olympias, Alexander's mother, killed him, and poisoned Alexander's two sons, Hercules and Alexander. Thus was his family rooted out by its own hands. See what decaying perishing things worldly pomp and possessions are, and the powers by which they are got. Never was the vanity of the world and its greatest things shown more evidently than in the story of Alexander. All is vanity and vexation of spirit.

Asia and Greece are not followed but Syria and
Egypt become prominent, because the King of the
North from Syria, and the King of the South, Egypt,
were to come in touch with the Jews. The holy land
became involved with both. The King of the South
was Ptolemy Lagus. One of his princes was
Seleucus Nicator. He established a great dominion,
which extended to the Indus.
And in the end of years they shall join themselves
together; for the king's daughter of the south shall
come to the king of the north to make an agreement;
but she shall not retain the power of the arm; neither
shall he stand, nor his arm: but she shall be given
up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her,
and he that strengthened her in these times. (Verse
6.)
Here is another gap. This verse takes us to 250 B. C.
The two who make an alliance are the Kings of the
North (Syrian division of the Grecian Empire) and
of the South (Egypt). This alliance was eflFected by
the marriage of the daughter of the King of the
South, the Egyptian Princess Berenice, daughter of
Ptolemy H., to Antiochus Theos, the King of the
North. The agreement was that Antiochus had to
divorce his wife and make any child of Bernice his
heir in the kingdom. The agreement ended in
calamity. When Ptolemy died Antiochus Theos in
247 called back his former wife. Berenice and her
young son were poisoned and the first wife's son,
Callinicus, was put on the throne as Seleucus II.
But out of a branch of her roots shall one stand up
in his estate, which shall come with an army, and
shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north,
and shall deal against them, and shall prevail.
(Verse 7.)
The one out of her roots (Berenice, who had been
murdered) was her own brother, Ptolemy Euergetes,
who avenged her death. He conquered Syria. He
dealt against Seleucus II, King of the North and
slew the wife of Antiochus Theos, who had
Berenice poisoned. He seized the fortress, the port
of Antioch.
And shall also carry captives into Egypt their gods,
with their princes, and with their precious vessels of
silver and gold; and he shall continue more years
than the king of the north. (Verse 8.)
Ptolemy Euergetes did exactly as predicted. He
returned with 4000 talents of gold and 40,000
talents of silver and 2500 idols and idolatrous
vessels. Many of these Cambyses had taken to
Persia.

So the King of the South shall come into his
kingdom, and shall return into his own land. (Verse
9.)
(Literal translation) : " and the same (King of the
North) shall come into the realm of the King of the
South, but shall return into his own land."

In 240 B. C. Seleucus Callinicus the King of the
North invaded Egypt. He had to return defeated. His
fleet perished in a storm.  500,000 reduced to 10,000.
But his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble
a multitude of great forces: and one shall certainly
come, and overflow, and pass through : then shall
he return, and be stirred up, even to his fortress.
(Verse 10.)
The sons of Seleucus Callinicus were Seleucus III
and Antiochus the Great. Seleucus (Ceraunos) III
began war against Egyptian Provinces in Asia
Minor. He was unsuccessful. The other son Antioch III
invaded Egypt and passed through because Ptolemy
Philopater did not oppose him. B. C. 219 Antiochus
continued his warfare and took the fortress Gaza.
And the King of the South shall be moved with
choler, and shall come forth and fight with him,
even with the King of the North: and he shall set
forth a great multitude but the multitude shall be
given into his hand. (Verse 11.)
In 217 B. C. Ptolemy aroused himself and fought
Antiochus the Great with an immense army. He
defeated Antiochus. The multitude was given into
the hands of Ptolemy Philopater
The name Ptolemy or Ptolemaeus comes from the Greek Ptolemaios, which means warlike.
And when he hath taken away the multitude, his
heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down
many ten thousands: but he shall not be
strengthened by it. (Verse 12.)(Literal: "And the multitude shall rise up and his
courage increase.")
The people of Egypt rose up and the weakling
Ptolemy became courageous. His victory is again
referred to. It was won at Raphia. He might have
pressed his victory. But he did not make use of it
but gave himself up to a licentious life. Thus " he
was not strengthened by it"
For the King of the North shall return, and shall set
forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall
certainly come after certain years with a great army
and with much riches. (Verse 13.)
About 14 years later 203 B. C Antiochus assembled
a great army, greater than the army which was
defeated at Raphia and turned against Egypt.
Ptolemy Philopatcr had died and left an infant son
Ptolemy Epiphancs.
And in those times there shall many stand up
against the King of the South: also the robbers of
thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the
vision; but they shall fall (Verse 14.)
Antiochus had for his ally Phillip, King of
Macedon. Also in Egypt many rebels stood up. And
then there were, as we read in Josephus, wicked
Jews, who helped Antiochus. These "robbers of thy
people" established the vision. They helped along
the very things which had been predicted, as to
trials for them.
So the King of the North shall come, and cast up a
mount, and take the most fenced cities: and the
arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his
chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to
withstand. (Verse 15.)
All this was fulfilled in the severe struggles, which
followed.
But he that cometh against him shall do according
to his own will, and none shall stand before him :
and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his
hand shall be consumed. (Verse 16.)
The invasion of the glorious land by Antiochus
followed. He subjected the whole land unto himself.
He also was well disposed towards the Jews
because they sided with Antiochus the Great against
Ptolemy Epiphanes.
He shall also set his face to enter with the strength
of his whole kingdom, and an agreement shall be
made with him; thus shall he do: and he shall give
him the daughter of women, corrupting her: but she
shall not stand on his side, neither be for him.
(Verse 17.)
This brings us to the years 198-195 B. C. Antiochus
aimed to get full possession of Egypt. An agreement
was made. In this treaty between Antiochus and
Ptolemy Epiphanes, Cleopatra, daughter of
Antiochus was espoused to Ptolemy. Why is
Cleopatro called " daughter of women?" Because
she was very young and was under the care of her
mother and grandmother. The treaty failed.
After this shall he turn his face unto the isles, and
shall take many : but a prince (literally: Captain) for
his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by
him to cease; without his own reproach he shall
cause it to turned upon him. (Verse 18.)
A few years later Antiochus conquered isles on the
coast of Asia Minor. The captain predicted is Scipio
Asiaticus. Antiochus had reproached the Romans by
his acts and he was defeated. This defeat took place
at Magnesia 190 B. C.
Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his
own land: but he shall stumble and fall, and not be
found. (Verse 19.)
Antiochus returns to his own land. He came to a
miserable end trying to plunder the temple of Belus
in Elymais.
Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in
the glory of the kingdom : but within few days he
shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.
(Verse 20.)
This is Seleucus Philopater b. c 187-176. He was
known as a raiser of taxes. He had an evil reputation
with the Jews because he was such an exactor
among them. His tax-collector Heliodorus poisoned
him and so he was slain " neither; in anger, nor in
battle."
And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to
whom they shall not give the honour of the
kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and
obtain the kingdom by flatteries. (Verse 21.)
This vile person is none other than Antiochus
Epiphanes. He had no claim on royal dignities being
only a younger son of Antiochus the Great. He
seized royal honors by trickery and with flatteries.
He is the little horn of Chapter viii.
And with the arms of a flood shall they be
overflown from before him, and shall be broken;
yea, also the prince of the covenant. (Verse 22.)
He was successful in defeating his enemies. The
prince of the covenant may mean his nephew
Ptolemy Philometor. He also vanquished
Philometor's generals.
And after the league made with him he shall work
deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become
strong with a small people. (Verse 23.)
He feigned friendship to young Ptolemy but worked
deceitfully. To allay suspicion he came against
Egypt with a small force but took Egypt as far as
Memphis.
He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest
places of the province; and he shall do that which
his fathers have not done, nor his father's fathers; he
shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and
riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against
the strong holds, even for a time. (Verse 24.)
He took possession of the fertile places in Egypt
under the pretense of peace. He took Pelusium and
laid siege to the fortified places Naucratis and
Alexandria
And he shall stir up his power and his courage
against the King of the South with a great army; and
the King of the South shall be stirred up to battle
with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not
stand: for they shall forecast devices against him.
(Verse 25.)
This King of the South is Ptolemy Physcon, who
was made king after Philometor had fallen into the
hands of Antiochus. He had a great army but did not
succeed because treason had broken out in his own
camp.
Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall
destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many
shall fall down • slain. (Verse 26.)
Additional actions of Antiochus and warfare, in
which he was successful, followed.
And both these kings' hearts shall be to do mischief,
and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not
prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time
appointed. (Verse 27.)
The two kings are Antiochus Epiphanes and his
associate Philometor. They made an alliance against
Ptolemy Euergetes II also called Physcon. But they
spoke lies against each other and did not succeed in
their plans.
Then shall he return into his land with great riches;
and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and
he shall do exploits, and return to his own land.
(Verse 28.)
In 168 B. C. he returned from his expedition and
had great riches. Then he marched through Judea
and did his awful deeds. A report had come to his
ears that the Jewish people had reported him dead.
In the first and second book of the Maccabees we
read of his atrocities. Then he retired to Antioch.
At the time appointed he shall return, and come
toward the south; but it shall not be as the former,
or as the latter. (Verse 29.)
He made still another attempt against the south.
However he had not the former success.
For the ships of Chittira shall come against him:
therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have
indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he
do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with
them that forsake the holy covenant. (Verse 30.)
The ships of Chittim are the Roman fleet. When
within a few miles of Alexandria he heard that ships
had arrived. He went to salute them. They delivered
to him the letters of the senate, in which he was
commanded, on pain of the displeasure of the
Roman people, to put an end to the war against his
nephews. Antiochus said, "he would go and consult
his friends;" on which Popilius, one of the legates,
took his staff, and instantly drew a circle round
Antiochus on the sand, where he stood; and
commanded him not to pass that circle, till he had
given a definite answer. As a grieved and defeated
man he returned and then he fell upon Judea once
more to commit additional wickedness. Apostate
Jews sided with him.
And arms shall stand on his part and they shall
pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take
away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the
abomination that maketh desolate. (Verse 31.)
This brings us to the climax of the horrors under
Antiochus Epiphanes. The previous record of it is
contained in Chapter viii. He sent Apollonius with
over 20,000 men to destroy Jerusalem. Multitudes
were slain and women and children led away as
captives. He issued a command that all people must
conform to the idolatry of Greece. A wicked
Grecian was sent to enforce the word of Antiochus.
All sacrifices ceased and the God-given ceremonials
of Judaism came to an end. The temple was polluted
by the sacrifices of swine's flesh. The temple was
dedicated to Jupiter Olympius. Thus the prediction
was fulfilled.
And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall
he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know
their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

And they that understand among the people shall
instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and
by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

Now when they shall fall they shall be holpen with
a little help: but many shall cleave to them with
flatteries.
And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try
them, and to purge, and to make them white, even
to the time of the end : because It is yet for a time
appointed. (Verses 32-35)
These verses describe the condition among the
Jewish people. There were two classes. Those who
do wickedly against the covenant, the apostate and
those who know God, a faithful remnant. The
apostates sided with the enemy and the people who
know God were strong. This has reference to the
noble Maccabees. There was also suffering and
persecution,

THE FUTURE LEADER

(Daniel 11:36 [KJV])
And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
  • This is no normal powerful leader, and the same M.O. for the anti-CHrist throughout the Bible about him.
(Daniel 11:37 [KJV])
Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.
  • The God of his fathers:  A JEW?
  • A Sodomite?
  • Whatever he is,
(Daniel 11:38 [KJV])
But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
  • Who is the man honoring?
(Daniel 11:39 [KJV])
Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.
  • This is dividing Israel/Jerusalem
(Daniel 11:40 [KJV])
And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
  • The "time of the end" is not in any way the "End of time"
  • Egypt is the south?
  • Syria is the north?
  • Battletank in Israel called the horseman

(Daniel 11:41 [KJV])
He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.
  • The area is Jordan who has a peace treaty with Israel, and needs her water
  • Petra is in Jordan, in case Israel needs to escape there
  • This is the refuge for the supernatural protection for Israel

(Daniel 11:42-43 [KJV])
He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.  But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.
  • Egypt will fall to the anti-Christ, and her ancient riches of gold, pyramids, etc. will be under his control
(Daniel 11:44 [KJV])
But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.
  • This is the kings of the east, which number hundrds of millions of a standing man army, specifically China
(Revelation 16:12 [KJV])
And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.

(Daniel 11:45 [KJV])
And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
  • This is the Second Coming to Israel for the Messiah, from where He will reign
  • He returns to the Mount of Olives
(Psalms 48:2 [KJV])
Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

(Matthew 5:35 [KJV])
Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

(Acts 1:11-12 [KJV])
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.  Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.

Daniel Chapter 10

Daniel Chapter 10

INTRODUCTION:  Chapters 10-12 are probably all one vision, and it is about Israel in the immediate future relative to Daniel last/latter days, as a double prophecy, with the little horn and the little horn of the last days.  Much has already been fulfilled, and much is still future to be fulfilled.

(Daniel 10:1 [KJV])

In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.
  • Daniel is in his late 80s-early 90s by this time
  • This is a retired Daniel, and this is about four years after the Daniel 9 visions
  • Cyrus had made the decree to return to the land, but two years had passed and only a handful had done so
33 B.C.: how long Daniel lived after this is not certain; very probably he died quickly after, since he must be in a very advanced age; for the third year of Cyrus being the seventy third of his captivity, as Dean Prideaux {z} observes; and if he was eighteen years of age, as that learned man thinks is the least that can be supposed at the time of his carrying into Babylon, he must have been in the ninety first year of his age at this time; or if he was but fifteen years of age at that time, which is the opinion of Aben Ezra on Da 1:4, he must be in the third year of Cyrus eighty eight years of age.

CYRUS OF PERSIA

(2 Chronicles 36:22 [KJV])
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.

(Ezra 1:1-2 [KJV])
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

(Ezra 6:14 [KJV])
And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

(Daniel 10:2-3 [KJV])
In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.  I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
  • Daniel is in mourning
  • This has to be some revelation!
  • This is a full out fast to determine the will of God
(Daniel 10:4 [KJV])
And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;
  • This is probably (though not definitive) the Tigris River, post-Flood
  • He started on the third of the month, to the twenty fourth day of the month
(Daniel 10:5 [KJV])
Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:
  • He has fasted and prayed for twenty one days straight.  He is ready to hear from God
  • Girt with gold, as a direct messenger from the throne of the King Himself (Revelation 1:13)
LOINS GIRDED WITH GOLD
(Jeremiah 10:9 [KJV])
Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.

(Exodus 12:11 [KJV])
And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover.

(Ephesians 6:14 [KJV])
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

(Revelation 1:13 [KJV])
And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

(Daniel 10:6 [KJV])
His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
  • Who is this man sent from? Who does he resemble, exactly?
(Revelation 1:13-15 [KJV])
And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.   His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

(Daniel 10:7 [KJV])
And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.
  • The same happened to Paul when he met Jesus on the road to Damascus
  • The same happened to the Israelites when Moses saw God on the mountain
  • They shook with fear and ran away.  This was a frightful angelic appearance

(Exodus 19:16 [KJV])
And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

(Exodus 20:18 [KJV])
And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.

(Acts 9:7 [KJV])
And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

(Daniel 10:8 [KJV])
Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
  • It was so awesome that the effect was on Daniel as well
  • His face was no longer handsome, but ugly from fright
  • Weakness set in as well, from everything before this time, to the angelic appearance
    • Fasting
    • Prayer
    •  No anointing himself with oil
    • The appearance of Gabriel
    • Even his friends running off
(Daniel 10:9 [KJV])
Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.
  • Perhaps fainting, sheer shock, the sight of the angel, humility, and utter weakness and exhaustion combined to take down Daniel to his face.
(Daniel 10:10 [KJV])
And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
  • The angel Gabriel is not God, but certainly representing Him
  • This seems to be a worshipful, fearing position
(Matthew 23:12 [KJV])
And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

(James 4:10 [KJV])
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

(1 Peter 5:6 [KJV])
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

(Daniel 10:11 [KJV])
And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
  • Being old is one thing
  • Being old and having this vision is devastating to the body and mind and heart
(Daniel 10:12 [KJV])
Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
  • Our prayers are held back, not because of our timing in the prayer, or how fervent, how often, we pray.
  • They can be held back by God for His timing purposes, and HE allows spiritual battles to occur on big answers
(Daniel 10:13 [KJV])
But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
  • Devilish realms are divided into military-like levels of power
  • Most likely very powerful princes rule over large kingdoms and areas
  • We do not always understand these things in the spiritual realm, as the angels often do not understand out realm (they desire to look into them)
  • We can wrestle against them, and so can the angels who are much more powerful than we are
WE DO NOT FULLY UNDERSTAND THE SPIRITUAL REALM
(Romans 8:38 [KJV])
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

(Ephesians 6:12 [KJV])
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

(Colossians 1:16 [KJV])
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

(Colossians 2:15 [KJV])
And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

THE ANGELS DO NOT UNDERSTAND OUR REALM
(1 Peter 1:12 [KJV])
Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

(Daniel 10:14 [KJV])
Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.
  • This is not an immediate fulfillment at all for Daniel's times
(Daniel 10:15 [KJV])
And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.
  • Right back down to the ground he just got right up from!  Is this a huge and disturbing vision or what?
(Daniel 10:16 [KJV])
And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.
  • One of the purposes of angelic visits, known or unknown, seen or unseen, is to strengthen believers
  • They appear on earth to us as men, not as some sort of weird creature like some may be in Heaven.
  •  The angels, for instance, who appeared to Abraham before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah were as men, so much so that the sodomites wanted to have relations with them
(Genesis 18:2 [KJV])
And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,

(Genesis 19:5 [KJV])
And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

(Daniel 10:17-18 [KJV])
For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me. Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,
  • Daniel has a lot to say about what he saw, and is unable to find the strength to express himself because of his weakness
  • In addition to this, he is humbled and realizes that he, as dust, is speaking to God's representative and, therefore, to God as a mere mortal man
  • Again, this was apparently some vision he saw!
  • Add to that an angel coming to strengthen him, and he is weaker still from the experiences
  • Is this where the name of the show "Touched By An Angel" came from?
  • When we reach out and touch other Christians in any way, it strengthensthe body, but them specifically, primarily
(Habakkuk 3:16-19 [KJV])
When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops. Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

(Daniel 10:19 [KJV])
And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
  • Daniel has the title of "O man greatly beloved"
  • In addition to a personal touch, the words we speak can either tear down or build up, as is taught throughout Scripture
(Proverbs 12:18 [KJV])
There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
(Daniel 10:20 [KJV])
Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.
  • A question to Daniel, who is now stronger..........it appears the angel Gabriel is unsure if Daniel is ready to hear the interpretation yet.
(Daniel 10:21 [KJV])
But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
  • The Word of God is called "The Scripture of Truth"
  • This battle was fought with only Gabriel and Michael
  • Michael is his prince, at his service to do battle for him
  • The same is for us as well.

Daniel Chapter 9

Daniel Chapter 9

536-538 B.C., uncertain

(Daniel 9:1 [KJV])
In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;
  • Same setting as Ezra and Esther, especially Esther 1
  • This is probably the 3rd year of Belshazzar
  • Daniel has already recently seen the visions in chapter 8
(Daniel 9:2 [KJV])
In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.
  • This shows that the Scriptures are, the Word of God, is in books-not papers, parchments, scrolls.
  • He was reading Jeremiah 25:11, et al
  • Daniel the prophet heard from God directly, and still was a Bible reader
  • It must be remembered that Daniel was a teen when captured by Nebuchadnezzar; now 70 years has passed
  • From this he counted back and concluded it was time to go!
(Jeremiah 25:11 [KJV])
And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

(Jeremiah 29:10 [KJV])
For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.

(2 Chronicles 36:21 [KJV])
To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.

(Daniel 9:3 [KJV])
And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
  • Even knowing that they are on the clock, he still prays fervently
  • Reading and studying the Bible makes us pray. It worked with Daniel and everyone else in it who did just that.
  • God is The Great Conversationalist, always
    • Prayer-talking to God as a friend
    • Supplication-talking and asking for an answer
    • Fasting-seeking God's will
    • Sackcloth and ashes-mourning

SACK'CLOTH, n. [sack and cloth.] Cloth of which sacks are made; coarse cloth. This word is chiefly used in Scripture to denote a cloth or garment worn in mourning, distress or mortification.
Gird you with sackcloth and mourn before Abner. 2 Sam 3. Est 4. Job 46.

(Daniel 9:4 [KJV])
And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
  • Confession is first, the establishment of fellowship and elimination of anything in between
  • God is fearaful, awesome, powerful
  • God is further, faithful, keeping the covenant
  • Loving God means obeying Him

(Daniel 9:5 [KJV])
We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
  • We......Daniel includes himself, though doubtless he actually engaged in it, because it is Judah, not just a few people
  • It was Judah, collectively, corporately, universally, and Daniel knew that sin affects and spreads and is not isolated, innocuous, private
  • In other words, the sins were public and affected the nation as a whole.
  • Adam and Eve at the fruit, not us.  We still die because of it.

(Daniel 9:6 [KJV])
Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
  • These are the ones who heard the prophecies from Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Daniel, to name a few.
  • Notice who they are and their influence.........THE LEADERS!
  • The lack of hearkening is really just the start of what they actually did in total

(2 Chronicles 24:18-21 [KJV])
And they left the house of the LORD God of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass.  Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again unto the LORD; and they testified against them: but they would not give ear.  And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, which stood above the people, and said unto them, Thus saith God, Why transgress ye the commandments of the LORD, that ye cannot prosper? because ye have forsaken the LORD, he hath also forsaken you.  And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the LORD.

(Luke 11:47-51 [KJV])
Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.  Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.  Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:  That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;  From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.

(Acts 7:52 [KJV])
Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

(Hebrews 11:32-40 [KJV])
And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:  Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:  And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:  God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

(Daniel 9:7 [KJV])
O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.
  • The righteousness of God is also to us from God, which is the opposite of all other religions
  • Israel and Judah were often confused in their history, simply because they rejected God, who is not the author of confusion.
  • The dispersions were due to a lack of following God and following other gods, other grevious sins against Him.  They were always forewarned by prophets of this.
(1 Corinthians 14:33 [KJV])
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

(Daniel 9:8 [KJV])
O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.
  • He repeats that they are utterly clueless ad elaborates on the us as beign the leaders who have sinned
  • It is the gravity effect for the nation
  • No sin affects no one

(1 Corinthians 5:6 [KJV])
Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

(Galatians 5:9 [KJV])
A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

(Daniel 9:9 [KJV])
To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;
  • He is still in the business of loving and saving and being merciful to Israel and Judah.
  • Sin is rebellion against God, as Samuel told Saul.
(1 Samuel 15:23 [KJV])
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

(Isaiah 5:25 [KJV])
Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

(Isaiah 9:12 [KJV])
The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

(Isaiah 9:17 [KJV])
Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

(Isaiah 10:4 [KJV])
Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

(Isaiah 14:27 [KJV])
For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

(Daniel 9:10 [KJV])
Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
  • Another repetition of the problem which led to all of this-their disobedience
  • Moses was both a lawgiver and a prophet
  • Again it is "us", including himself in this

(Deuteronomy 34:10 [KJV])
And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,

(Luke 16:29-31 [KJV])
Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

(Luke 24:27 [KJV])
And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

(Daniel 9:11 [KJV])
Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.
  • Deuteronomy 28:15-the end is all about what happens when they reject God and His commandments and are cursed
  • The first part of Deuteronomy 28, much smaller, is about the blessings

(Daniel 9:12 [KJV])
And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
  • God's blessings and curses were confirmed each time they either obeyed or disobeyed God's Laws
  • God's people Israel and His Holy City Jerusalem is unique among all others on earth, in history.
  • The judgments of all other nations was either annihilation or complete reduction to being a byword
  • None was ever taken away and restored, not even once. With Israel it was any, many times
  • Into Assyria.  Into Babylon.  Into Rome.  Scattered to return 2,000 years later.

(Daniel 9:13 [KJV])
As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.
  • Despite the curse, they shunned God in their sin
  • Adam and Eve did the same
  • The prayer towards God would have brought them back to God, in fellowship with Him

(Genesis 3:9-10 [KJV])
And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

(Daniel 9:14 [KJV])
Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.
  • The two reasons for judgment of sin and the curse, always coupled:
    • Israel and Judah's sin
    • God's righteousness and holiness

(Daniel 9:15 [KJV])
And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.
  • A common practice many centuries up to this point is to remind God and Israel of what God did for them in getting them out of Egypt
  • This act alone made the neighboring nations fear Israel and her God.
  • Nevertheless, Israel fell, and Daniel includes himself in this as a member of the nation

(Daniel 9:16 [KJV])
O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.
  • Not according to the righteousness of Israel or Daniel at all, which is never brought up
  • God owns the city, the nation, the mountain, He is LORD of all the earth
  • This statement in the prayer of Daniel shows unity of the Scripture
(Psalms 97:5 [KJV])
The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

(Micah 4:13 [KJV])
Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.

(Zechariah 4:14 [KJV])
Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

    (Daniel 9:17 [KJV])
Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake.
    • "O Our God", verses just "O God", meaning Daniel is again identifying himself with the nation
    • Having called upon God's character, he now call for the answer

    (Daniel 9:18 [KJV])
O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.
    • God's character included here is in regards to the city of His Name, Jerusalem
    • Even when there was no utter destruction of the city, it was inhabited by pagans, not used by God for His Glory
    • This is not just any city, but the Holy City, the Capital of the people of God, the Capital of the nation and land God formed
    • There is nothing in Danie, Israel or Judah for God to answer this for.......this is all from, about, to God

    (Daniel 9:19 [KJV])
O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.
    • He repeats the request, for the same reason, with fervency, urgency, determinancy, expecting the outcome

    (Daniel 9:20 [KJV])
    And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;
    • All three instances are retold here, with the addition of the answer given in the middle of it all
      • Confessing his sin and theirs
      • With supplications
      • For God's character's sake
      • For God's land, mountain, nation He founded

    (Daniel 9:21 [KJV])
Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.
    • "whiles I was speaking in prayer" is repeated, meaning he really must have been amazed at the arrival of Gabriel
    • To Daniel, the appearance of Gabriel is as a man, not a winged angel
    • Throughout Scripture, messengers of God as angels are men, not weird beings, especially on earth
    (Daniel 8:16 [KJV])
And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

    (Daniel 9:22 [KJV])
And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.
    • God sends wisdom and skill and understanding; it is not internal, it is not inherent, it is not indigenous, innate to man to have godly wisdom
    • It comes also from the fear of God
    (Proverbs 1:7 [KJV])
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

    (Proverbs 2:2-9 [KJV])
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;  Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;  If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;  Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.  For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.  Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

    (Daniel 9:23 [KJV])
At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.
    • Daniel was very special, a man used of God, humble, faithful under all circumstances, with much revealed to him in prophecy in a very small amount of revelation
    • For that he had to endure both the shame of his nation, a trip to the lions den, seven years of helping NEbuchadnezzar live like an animal, and the visions of the future which troubled him so much he ended up literally, physically sick
    • The answer was given when he prayed,
    • Some say Daniel had Gabriel standing there the entire time from the time he started praying, but did not realize it until he opened his eyes!

STOP.  These four verses in the Bible are the most amazing, accurate, mathematical,  calculated, accurately fulfilled, debated, hated, loved, unexpected by Daniel yet anticipated by many, voluminous verses probably in the Bible. IF one understands this section and this chapter, they will understand all of the Bible, as it is a key. Conversely, if they do not get this part, then the rest of the Bible will surely be a problem.

    (Daniel 9:24 [KJV])
Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
    • Notice Gabriel jumps right into the prophecy with no hesitation
    • This is not the supplication Daniel EXACTLY asked for but it is the request
    • It is swift in coming because Daniel was humble in asking, repentant, faithful, worshipful
    • This seventy weeks is seventy sevens, a unit  of measure, like we use "dozens"
    • That means 490 something, in Hebrew either days or years, the only two usages in that language
    • Since it was not done in seventy days, it was on the seventy first day, seventy years.
    • Remember that at the beginning here, it is seventy years he read about in Jeremiah, when they were to return from the captivity (verse 2 above and (Jeremiah 25:11 [KJV]) (Jeremiah 29:10 [KJV])(2 Chronicles 36:21 [KJV]))
    • It is an answer to prayer, in a double fulfillment, unexpected, and a pleasant surprise, now and in the future
    • Six things would be accomplished, which would never fit into seventy days:
    •  7 (7s)+ 62 (7s) + 1 (7)

    1. Finish the transgression-of Israel, specifically, the redemption finished at the Cross
    2. (Zechariah 12:10 [KJV]) And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. (Zechariah 13:1 [KJV]) In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness. (Romans 11:26 [KJV]) And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
    3. "and to make an end of sins"-This is AT the Second Coming of Christ

      (Revelation 1:7 [KJV])
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

      (Matthew 24:30 [KJV])
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

    4. "and to make reconciliation for iniquity, "- this is the Cross of Christ

      (Romans 5:10 [KJV])
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

      (2 Corinthians 5:18 [KJV])
      And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

      (1 Peter 3:18 [KJV])
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
    5. "and to bring in everlasting righteousness"-This IS THE Second Coming of Christ

      (Hosea 5:15 [KJV])
I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

      (John 19:37 [KJV])
And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

      (Revelation 1:7 [KJV])
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

      (Mark 13:26 [KJV])
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

      (Matthew 26:64 [KJV])
Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

    6. "and to seal up the vision and prophecy,"-It will be all done, everything, completed

      (Revelation 22:10 [KJV])
And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.

    7. " and to anoint the most Holy."

      (Ezekiel 43:4-9 [KJV])
And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east.  So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house.
And I heard him speaking unto me out of the house; and the man stood by me.
And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places.
In their setting of their threshold by my thresholds, and their post by my posts, and the wall between me and them, they have even defiled my holy name by their abominations that they have committed: wherefore I have consumed them in mine anger. Now let them put away their whoredom, and the carcases of their kings, far from me, and I will dwell in the midst of them for ever.

    (Daniel 9:25 [KJV])
Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

    • THE ORDER IS 7 (7s), then after that 62 (7s), THEN later on a single 7 year period.

    • Saying "after the sixty two weeks" is like then saying "after the 69 weeks", because it is then included ,assumed, since at this time the seven weeks (49 years) are already past, the temple is built

    THE COMMANDMENT TO REBUILD

    (Nehemiah 2:1-8 [KJV])
And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been beforetime sad in his presence.  Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid,  And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?
Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.  And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchres, that I may build it.  And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.  Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may convey me over till I come into Judah;  And a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.

    • This month of Nisan is March 14, 444 B.C. Any good encyclopedia says that Artaxerxes started his reign in 464 B.C., so in his twentieth year it would be 444 B.C.

    • A "week" is either seven days or seven years only.  Since it was not seventy seven day periods, it has to be seventy seven year periods, or 490 years total
    • Seventy "weeks" of sevens = 69 "weeks" of sevens + 1 "week" of sevens, or 490 years total
    • 70  X 7 years = 490 years in absolute total for everything
    • THE DIVISION is 7 + 62 = 69, then 1 =70
    • THE SEVEN WEEKS:  7 weeks brings us to rebuild, it took 49 years
    • THE SIXTY TWO WEEKS: 62 weeks, 434 years brings us to the Messiah being cut off
    • 62 X 7 X 360 = 156240 days
    • 69 X 7 years = 483 years X 360 days on the 173, 880 days
    • March 14, 445 B.C., decree by Artexerxes Longimanus to rebuild Jerusalem in his twentieth years
    • April 6, 32 A.D. on PASSSOVER (14th Nisan) He got on a donkey and rode into Jerusalem as their Messiah (Luke 19, et al).
    • The 10th of April was the Julian calendar, come back four days on the Jewish Calendar, it is April 6th, 32 A.D.
      • He accepted the Worship
      • He told the Pharisees who asked Him to tell the people to be quiet that they must or the rocks would cry out
      • He wept over the city
      • He saw the rejection of Himself and the subsequent destruction of the city in 70 A.D.
    • 49 years = 7 weeks, end of Old Testament,
    • The last week=seven years of The Great Tribulation
To the day, 69 X 7 X 360 = 173, 880 days to the day exactly from the decree to the riding into Jerusalem and Crucifixion, to the day.

HE GOT ON A DONKEY, FULFILLING ZECHARIAH 9:9
    (Zechariah 9:9 [KJV])
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

    (Matthew 21:5-11 [KJV])
Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,  And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.  And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.  And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?  And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

    HE ACCEPTED WORSHIP
    (Matthew 21:9 [KJV])
And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

HE TOLD THE PHARISEES THIS HAD TO HAPPEN
    (Luke 19:39-40 [KJV])
And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

HE WEPT OVER THE CITY OF JERUSALEM

    (Luke 19:41-42 [KJV])
And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
HE SAW THE REJECTION OF HIMSELF AND THE  SUBSEQUENT DESTRUCTION OF THE CITY IN 70 A.D.

    (Luke 19:43-44 [KJV])
For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,  And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
    • The temple needs to be rebuilt in or before the Great Tribulation, and it will be in troublesome times.
    (Daniel 9:26 [KJV])
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
    • Jesus Christ the Messiah was killed as an innocent man, not for Himself or His sins
    • Because the temple was already rebuilt, the clock times from the 62nd week
    • The "prince that shall come" is a Roman who killed the Messiah, the little horn in Daniel 7, the Beast
    • 1 of 33 titles, from Nimrod to this one, 13 in the new
    • anti-Christ means "instead of", as in the word "Vicar of Christ" or one of the the official names of the Pope
    • Titus Vespasian destroyed Jerusalem after Nero died, in 70 A.D.
    • The Flood of people is the Dispersia of the Jews, and represents people in prophecy like this:
    (Revelation 12:15-16 [KJV])
And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

    (Daniel 9:27 [KJV])
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
    • This is the last "week" or seven year period, the Great Tribulation
    • The Messiah will be killed...........very clear Gospel message
    • Instant switch to what has to happen with the anti-Christ first
    • The anti-Christ has a covenant with Israel to rebuild the temple at Jerusalem, ( the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.)
    • The anti-Christ has a covenant with Israel to also allow sacrifices for seven years, plus peace
    • After three and a half years, the covenant is broken, then obviously will redo the Abomination of Desolation
    • During this time, the two witnesses preach the Gospel and are killed
    • The most documented period of time in history to come, with the many descriptions below
    (Matthew 24:15 [KJV])
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

    (Daniel 7:25 [KJV])
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

    (Revelation 11:2-3 [KJV])
But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.  And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

    (Revelation 12:14 [KJV])
And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

    (Revelation 13:5 [KJV])
And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

    Time=1 year
    Times=2 years
    Half  a time=1/2 year
    1 year + 2 years + 1/2 year= 3 1/2 years

    IOW:  3 1/2 years=forty two months or 1,260 days

    (Revelation 12:6 [KJV])
And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

    (Revelation 11:3 [KJV])
And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

JESUS THE REAL CHRIST WAS REJECTED, HE SAID THEY WOULD ACCEPT A FALSE ANTI-CHRIST
    (John 5:43 [KJV])
I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

THE MAN OF SIN AND PERDITION AND LAWLESS NESS

    (2 Thessalonians 2:8-9 [KJV])
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

    (Revelation 13:13-18 [KJV])
And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,  And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:  And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

    ASSYRIAN?
    (Isaiah 10:5 [KJV])
O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

    (Micah 5:5-7 [KJV])
And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men. And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders. And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.

CONCLUSION:  THE MESSIAH HAS TO BE SOMEONE WHO WAS EXECUTED BEFORE 70 A.D. AND THE TEMPLE DESTRUCTION

    - Yalkut, Vol II, 32b, pg. 79 Nazir edition

Messiah to exit prior to 33 AD
    - Midrash Berishit, pg. 243 Warsaw edition
