Jesus, Throughout Scripture

Jesus, Through Scripture
(01/08/2012)
How to Approach the Bible

Ask God the Holy Spirit
If you approach the Bible with pre-conceived notions such as it contains errors and contradictions, and are not willing to objectively challenge the plain readings of Scripture, then you will walk away with that same attitude. But if you ask God to show you, honestly, if this really is His Word and to help you understand what it says and means, He promises you will understand it.

1 Corinthians 2:14

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Receive the Bible as It Is the Word of God
1 Thessalonians 2:13
For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

If you think that the Word of God has been tampered with, it is true.  But that has always been the case. But there are three things to consider
  1. Man in the flesh never liked God's Word and always wanted to supplant his own.
  2. Satan has always hated God and His  Word and wanted to have his own
  3. God is bigger than man and satan and so, He has kept it faithfully, perfectly throughout by His Word
  4. God has exalted His Word above His Name, and we all know how powerful His Name is

(Psalms 138:2 [KJV])
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

He also promised to preserve His Word in its entirety
(Psalms 12:6-7 [KJV])
The words of the LORD [are] pure words: [as] silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

(Isaiah 40:7-8 [KJV])
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people [is] grass.  The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

(1 Peter 1:24-25 [KJV])
For all flesh [is] as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:  But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

(Matthew 5:18 [KJV])
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

(Matthew 24:35 [KJV])
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

(Luke 16:17 [KJV])
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

(Mark 13:31 [KJV])
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

(John 10:35 [KJV])
If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

He also put warnings on anyone who would dare to tamper with His Word, and that they would try
(Deuteronomy 4:2 [KJV])
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish [ought] from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

(Proverbs 30:5-6 [KJV])
Every word of God [is] pure: he [is] a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

(Revelation 22:18-19 [KJV])
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book.

That Never Deterred the Enemy and Man from Trying
(Genesis 3:1 [KJV])
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

(2 Corinthians 2:17 [KJV])
For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

(Acts 20:28-31 [KJV])
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

But this has not ever happened in the English King James Bible, nor has one of God's words ever been lost.  It is the only 100% accurate translation into English of the pure Word of God.  The tampering is in other versions and other books, which God never used much or at all-nor will ever use, made by men who took the Bible, changed the words and came up with "another gospel" (Galatians 1:8-9) to match their preconceived notions of who God is.  None has God's Gospel of being saved by grace through faith

(Ephesians 2:8-9 [KJV])
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

in them.  Usually the claim is made that an angel revealed this to the originator.  None of those books can be 100% accurate, not one predicts the future, not one contains the Gospel.  Not one contains anything new as it was merely copied and then deliberately altered from the original Word of God.

In addition, the Bible is the only set of sixty six books, written by forty different authors over thousands of years, without a single contradiction or error, that actually has a backup. All one has to do is go to the Greek and Hebrew manuscript copies and translate.  There are more of these than any other ancient book in existence today. If you do not believe that the Bible is the 100% Word of the Living God, the problem is not with the Bible.

Do not Re-Interpret It according to Your Pre-Conceptions

There is an old saying that says,

"If the first sense makes perfect sense, seek no other sense."

In other words, if what you read makes sense as it is plainly written, but does not mean what you expected it to, then it does not follow that it is incorrect, but rather that both your expectations and your conclusions are.

2 Peter 1:20-21

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Further, if what you are reading does not match what you are told, that is simply because you were misinformed. Now read on further to see what the truth really is and see for yourself. In other words, do not be gullible.  The Bible is not open to interpretation.  It is only open to reading.

Test the Bible's claims and the claims of those who believe it

The Bible is a set of books that have been challenged, searched, poked, prodded, picked apart, examined and attacked more than any other BOOK BY FAR, and has withstood the test of time. It has shown that it can stand up to anything and anyone.  I have no fears, nor does God, of putting His Word and words to any test.

1 John 4:1-4
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

1. The Bible teaches God is three persons, cover to cover-there are no exceptions and the examples are way too numerous to deny it.  It does not say that there is more than one God. It never did. Trinity means Tri-Unity, not Three Gods.
2. Bible teaches Jesus alone is God who became man, the God-Man. He was 100% man/100% God, not half and half. Half and half is something that people put into coffee.
3. Bible teaches that Jesus was THE Son of God, a title of Deity, unlike any other child of God.
4. The Jews knew this, refused to believe it, and crucified Him for it
5. The Bible teaches all men are sinners and not God, not able to become God, or gods

God is not afraid of being tested:

(Malachi 3:10 [KJV])
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it].

JESUS, THROUGHOUT THE BIBLE

JESUS AS CREATOR
(Genesis 1:1)
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

(John 1:1-3)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

JESUS IS THE LIGHT
(Genesis 1:3-5)
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

There were no stars to light the sky and earth yet. Notice it does not say that God CREATED that light. He merely let it shine on the earth, and started the rotation of the earth (night and day).

(John 8:12)
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

(John 9:5)
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

JESUS AS SUSTAINER
(Colossians 1:16-17)
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

JESUS AS THE SEED OF THE WOMAN
The Logical Path of the Seed of Eve

1. Gospel foretold-Seed is to be Jesus
2. The line of the seed-Isaac, child of faith and promise
2. Gospel Fulfilled-Seed is Jesus, by faith, promise
3. Gospel Preached (throughout, first to Jews, then to Gentiles)

The Gospel foretold-The Seed is to be Jesus

(Genesis 3:15)
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

The line of the seed-Isaac, child of faith, child of promise

The reason that Isaac is a child of promise is because Sarah was 90 years old and incapable of bearing a child. HE accepted that Sarah would bear Isaac by having faith in God's promise.  Isaac foreshadowed Jesus Christ in many ways.  There are many intentional similarities as well:

  1. Isaac, impossibly born by a miracle (Genesis 21:2, Romans 4:19)
  2. His birth was foretold, like Jesus (Genesis 18:10, 14)
  3. Isaac  was a child of promise (Genesis 18:10, 14)
  4. Isaac was a child through whom all of the world would be blessed (Genesis 17:21)
  5. Child nearly sacrificed, as a test of Abraham's faith (Genesis 22:10-11)
  6. At the sacrifice which was stopped, the prophecy of the Messiah Himself as God, Jesus, the Lamb would be provided (Genesis 22:8)
  7. Isaac was "obedient unto death" (Philippians 2:8, Genesis 22:6)
  8. Isaac carried the wood for his death to the place of sacrifice, as did Jesus carry His Cross (Genesis 22:6)
  9. Isaac was "as good as dead" and "resurrected spiritually" (Genesis 22:10-11, Hebrews 11:19)

This list is not exhaustive, nor can it be taken lightly, since some of the key elements of our salvation in Christ were foreshadowed in Isaac, giving the perfect illustration of salvation

THE LINE OF THE SEED, ISAAC TO JESUS CHRIST
(Matthew 1:1-16 [KJV])

Which was the son of Saruch, which was the son of Ragau, which was the son of Phalec, which was the son of Heber, which was the son of Sala,

Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

(v.23) And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph,.........(v. 34) which was the son of Isaac, which was the son of Abraham,

(Genesis 17:17-19)
Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee! And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

(Genesis 21:12)
And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

(Genesis 22:18)
And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
Gospel Fulfilled-Seed is Jesus, by faith, promise

(Galatians 3:14-17)
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

(Acts 3:25)
Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

DEATH AS AN INNOCENT MAN BY CRUCIFIXION
(Isaiah 53:4-8 [KJV])
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.  He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

(Psalms 22:6-18 [KJV])
But I [am] a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, [saying], He trusted on the LORD [that] he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. But thou [art] he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope [when I was] upon my mother's breasts.
I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou [art] my God from my mother's belly. Be not far from me; for trouble [is] near; for [there is] none to help. Many bulls have compassed me: strong [bulls] of Bashan have beset me round. They gaped upon me [with] their mouths, [as] a ravening and a roaring lion.
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.I may tell all my bones: they look [and] stare upon me. They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

(Zechariah 12:10 [KJV])
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for [his] only [son], and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for [his] firstborn.

(Zechariah 13:7 [KJV])
Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man [that is] my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.

(Matthew 27:35)
And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

(Mark 15:24)
And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.

(Luke 23:33)
And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
(John 19:18)
Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

(1 Corinthians 15:4-8 [KJV])
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

(John 20:18-31 [KJV])
Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and [that] he had spoken these things unto her. Then the same day at evening, being the first [day] of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace [be] unto you. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them [his] hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to them again, Peace [be] unto you: as [my] Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on [them], and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; [and] whose soever [sins] ye retain, they are retained. But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: [then] came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace [be] unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust [it] into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.  And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed [are] they that have not seen, and [yet] have believed.  And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

HE WAS CRUCIFIED SPECIFICALLY FOR CLAIMING TO BE GOD (IN JUDAISM, SON OF GOD=GOD THE SON, BLASPHEMY) AND THE KING OF THE JEWS
(John 19:7 [KJV])
The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.

(John 10:29-33 [KJV])
My Father, which gave [them] me, is greater than all; and no [man] is able to pluck [them] out of my Father's hand.  I and [my] Father are one.   Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

(Luke 22:66 [KJV])
And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,  Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: And if I also ask [you], ye will not answer me, nor let [me] go. Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God. Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

(Matthew 26:63-66 [KJV])
But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.  What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

BURIAL IN A BORROWED TOMB OF A RICH MAN
(Isaiah 53:9 [KJV])
And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither [was any] deceit in his mouth.

(Matthew 27:58-60)

He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.

(Mark 15:43-46)
Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.

(Luke 23:52)
This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.

(John 19:41-42)
Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

RESURRECTED FROM THE DEAD
(Matthew 28:1-7)
In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

(Mark 16:2-7)
And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?
And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.
And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, .as he said unto you.

(Luke 24:13-31 [KJV])
And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem [about] threescore furlongs. And they talked together of all these things which had happened. And it came to pass, that, while they communed [together] and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.
And he said unto them, What manner of communications [are] these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days? And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:
And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him. But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done. Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found [it] even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?  And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.  But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them. And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed [it], and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

PREACHED TO THE JEW FIRST
(Galatians 3:8)
And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

THEN PREACHED TO THE GENTILE
(1 Corinthians 15:3-8)
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

APPEARANCES OF THE PRE-INCARNATE CHRIST

MELCHISEDEC, PRIEST OF THE MOST HIGH GOD-IS JESUS CHRIST
(Genesis 14:18-20)
And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

(Hebrews Chapter 7)
For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:
But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better. And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.
For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)
By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

  • Abraham gave Him tithes-a sign of deity
  • He was the High Priest of the Most High God
  • There was no priesthood in Israel yet
  • He was called the King of righteousness,
  • He was called also the King of Salem, which is, King of peace
  • Without father
  • Without mother
  • No beginning (eternal)
  • No end (eternal)
  • Made like unto the Son of God
  • Forever a priest, eternal, unlike an earthly priest of the Old Testament

JESUS APPEARS TO HAGAR, SARAI'S HANDMAIDEN

(Genesis 16:7-13)
And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur. And he said, Hagar, Sarai's maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.
And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands. And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.
And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren. And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?

(Genesis 18:1-14 [KJV])
And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw [them], he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.  And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead [it], and make cakes upon the hearth.

And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave [it] unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it. And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set [it] before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat. And they said unto him, Where [is] Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard [it] in the tent door, which [was] behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah [were] old [and] well stricken in age; [and] it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

One of the reasons that we know that this is Jesus is because He accepts worship (bowing down, being called LORD). In other instances, when it is an angel, the angel tells the person not to bow down, but to worship God. Here that does not happen in these instances in Scripture. Another reason is that He says HE Himself will return according to the time of life.

AN Angel of the LORD

(Revelation 19:10)
And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
_______________

Genesis 18:1-14 ()
And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:
Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.
And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth.
And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it.
And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.
And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.
And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.

Genesis 32:24-30
The name of this man who wrestles with Jacob is not revealed, because it is God Himself in the person of the pre-incarnate Christ, the God-Man. If this was the Father, Jacob would have died.

(Genesis 32:24)
And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

Numbers 22:22-35
AN angel of the LORD is not the same as THE Angel of the LORD. Only THE Angel of the LORD accepted worship. It is obviously then the Pre-Incarnate LORD Jesus Christ.

(Numbers 22:22-35)
And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.
And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.
But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.
And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall: and he smote her again.
And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.
And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.
And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?
And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee. And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay.
Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his faceAnd the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me: And the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved her alive.
And Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again. And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

Joshua 5:13-15

Again, THE Angel of the LORD came as a man, and accepted worship. Add to that that this is the Captain of the hosts (angels) of God.

THE Captain of the LORD'S Host of Angels
(Joshua 5:13)
And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?
And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?
And the captain of the LORD'S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

Judges 2:1-4
And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.
And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?
Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.
And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the LORD.
  1. Called AN Angel of the LORD first
  2. Later, THE Angel of the LORD
  3. This is also in first person, "I"

Judges 6:11-22
And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.
And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.

And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.

And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?
And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.
And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.
And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me.
Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and set it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again.
And Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of flour: the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out unto him under the oak, and presented it.
And the angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so.
Then the angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the LORD departed out of his sight.
And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord GOD! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face.

And the LORD said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.
  1. An angel of the LORD is revealed as THE Angel of the LORD
  2. Later revealed as God Himself by Gideon

Judges 13:1-22
And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bare not.
And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.
Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:
For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.
Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name:
But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death.
Then Manoah intreated the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.
And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.
And the woman made haste, and ran, and shewed her husband, and said unto him, Behold, the man hath appeared unto me, that came unto me the other day.
And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him, Art thou the man that spakest unto the woman? And he said, I am.
And Manoah said, Now let thy words come to pass. How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him?
And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware.
She may not eat of any thing that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe.
And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, I pray thee, let us detain thee, until we shall have made ready a kid for thee.
And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Though thou detain me, I will not eat of thy bread: and if thou wilt offer a burnt offering, thou must offer it unto the LORD. For Manoah knew not that he was an angel of the LORD.

And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour? And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?

So Manoah took a kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the LORD: and the angel did wondrously; and Manoah and his wife looked on.
For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground.
But the angel of the LORD did no more appear to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an angel of the LORD. And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.

  1. Called "THE angel of the LORD" numerous times
  2. Called "a man of God"
  3. Countenance like the countenance of an angel of God
  4. Answered when asked by Manoah if this was the same man his wife saw, "I AM"
  5. Said His Name was secret when asked

Genesis Chapter 5

Genesis Chapter 5 (Genesis 5:1 [KJV])
This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
  • This book is about the times in which Adam lived.
  • This is the Day Six Creation account

(Genesis 5:2 [KJV])
Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
  • Adam, as in "Man", as in "Mankind"
  • "Male and Female", as in already fully formed as such and mature adults

(Genesis 5:3 [KJV])
And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
  • This would presumably not be child number three, since there was a wife for Cain and a city built already
(Genesis 4:17 [KJV])
And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

(Genesis 5:5 [KJV])
And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters: And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

  • Longevity was all part of it before the Flood because of the protection of the firmament and the slow and gradual process of sin in the genetic pool degrading man's life

(Genesis 5:6-27 [KJV])
And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos: And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died.
And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan: And Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died. And Cainan lived seventy years, and begat Mahalaleel:
And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died. And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared: And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters:
And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died. And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch: And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died. And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech: And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.

  • The first Rapture!

The Composite List Now let's put it all together:
Hebrew English
Adam Man
Seth Appointed
Enosh Mortal
Kenan Sorrow;
Mahalalel The Blessed God
Jared Shall come down
Enoch Teaching
Methuselah His death shall bring
Lamech The Despairing
Noah Rest, or comfort.

That's rather remarkable:

Man (is) appointed mortal sorrow; (but) the Blessed God shall come down teaching (that) His death shall bring (the) despairing rest.

NO Jewish Scribe would intentionally include the Gospel message in the Old Testament

(Genesis 5:28 [KJV])
And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:

(Genesis 5:29 [KJV])
And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.
(Genesis 5:30 [KJV])
And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters:

(Genesis 5:31 [KJV])
And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died.

(Genesis 5:32 [KJV])
And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
  • Shem, Ham and Japeth are the three people who comprise all of the people on earth today, and they all had one father-Noah

**One of American writerJohn Steinbeck's most famous novels is East of Eden. The betrayal of a brother is one of its central themes.

The Land of Nod also refers to the mythical land of sleep, a pun on Land of Nod (Gen. 4:16) [1]. To “go off to the land of Nod” plays with the phrase to “nod off”, meaning to go to sleep. The first recorded use of the phrase to mean "sleep" comes from Jonathan Swift in his Complete Collection of Polite and Ingenious Conversation (1737) [2] and Gulliver's Travels. A later instance of this usage appears in the poem The Land of Nod [3] by Robert Louis Stevenson from the A Child's Garden of Verses and Underwoods [4](1885)collection.
In The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes book, The Land of Nod is a pun on the mythical land of sleep, or The Dreaming, Cain's destination after his murdering his brother.
In Bad Monkeys, a psychological thriller by Matt Ruff, the main character frequently refers to apparent contradictions in her back story as "Nod problems."
The Land of Nod Trilogy is a series of books by author Gary Hoover. The first book in the trilogy ( Land of Nod, The Artifact ) was published by Fantasy Island Book Publishing in 2011.
(Genesis 4:1 [KJV])
And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
  • Cain= "Gotten"
  • Cain was the first person ever born on the earth
  • Abel="Vain, vapor, breath, whiff", same word used in Ecclesiastes "vanity of vanities"
(Genesis 4:2[KJV])
And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
  • Abel first person to die
  • Abel first person murdered
  • Abel first person to die as a victim of sin
  • Abel first person to die childless, making his life and his death in "vain"
(Genesis 4:3 [KJV])
And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
  • Commandment was given and understood for animal sacrifice to God-Cain violated it
(Genesis 4:4[KJV])
And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
  • Abel was not present when God sacrificed an animal to clothe his parents after the fall
  • How did he know to do this?
  • Commandment was already given for animal sacrifice to God-Abel obeyed it
  • Commandment was already given for animal sacrifice, even though permission to eat meat was not given yet, so the entire purpose of having a flock was for worshipping God, not for food
  • For this, he was killed (persecution for the righteous)
(Genesis 4:5[KJV])
But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
  • The seed of murder is already planted
  • It is either jealousy or hate or both
  • Cain is already a murderer
(Hebrews 11:4 [KJV])
By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

(Matthew 5:21-22 [KJV])
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

(Genesis 4:6[KJV])
And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
  • God is again not asking because HE does not know......HE is asking for Cain to confess sin in his heart
  • It is in his heart and on his face both and plain for all to see
(Proverbs 16:15[KJV])
In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

(Matthew 6:16 [KJV])
Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

(Genesis 4:7 [KJV])
If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
  • The fact is that if Cain did well, he would be accepted. If he does not do well, just in his heart, the enemy is right there with his flesh, urging him and tempting him to sin
  • Our flesh, our bent is toward the evil and not the good
  • Change of first person to the serpent from Cain
  • Our flesh is also the object of the desire of the enemy (unto thee shall be his desire)
  • Sin also rules over us if we let it
  • This is premeditated
(1 Peter 5:8 [KJV])
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

(Romans 6:12 [KJV])
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

(Romans 6:14 [KJV])
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

(Genesis 4:8 [KJV])
And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
  • In the premeditation, Cain prepares the crime by acting normal with his brother
  • There is no indication of a provocation from Abel; he merely was in the field, and was previously offering blood sacrifices to God-his crime for which Cain killed him
  • He was killed far away from the First Couple, secretly
  • How long did he think it would be before Abel would be noticed missing?
(1 John 3:12 [KJV])
Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

(Genesis 4:9[KJV])
And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?
  • He learned irresponsibility from his parents
  • He did not learn lying, but he lied anyways
  • Today we say, "Can you prove I did it?"
  • Cain thinks God did not see what he did, visibly, visually
(Genesis 4:10[KJV])
And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
  • Cain obviously would not answer the question above about the location of his brother
  • When people are murdered, God sees the bloodshed, witnesses the crime, does not forget what happened unless we get saved. Even then, there are consequences
  • Cain thinks God did not see what he did, visibly, visually
(Genesis 4:11[KJV])
And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;
  • Abel's blood was shed on the ground, God had used to cover and bury Abel, presumably
  • Cain was cursed for this bloodshed, and it was at his own hand ("from thy hand")
(Genesis 4:12[KJV])
When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
  • You wanted to eat and offer plants? Fine. Try gardening now!
  • One can imagine how Cain farming from here on out was made virtually impossible.
  • Would God then make animal husbandry work for Cain, to get that sacrifice?
  • Cain will be both on the run and wandering aimlessly about
  • Just as his parents were kicked out of the Garden, so now Cain is kicked out of society
FU'GITIVE, a. [L. fugitivus, from fugio, to flee. Gr.]
  1. Volatile; apt to flee away; readily wafted by the wind.
The more tender and fugitive parts -
  2. Not tenable; not to be held or detained; readily escaping; as a fugitive idea.
  3. Unstable; unsteady; fleeting; not fixed or durable.
  4. Fleeing; running from danger or pursuit.
  5. Fleeing from duty; eloping; escaping.
Can a fugitive daughter enjoy herself, while her parents are in tears?
  6. Wandering; vagabond; as a fugitive physician.
  7. In literature, fugitive compositions are such as are short and occasional, written in haste or at intervals, and considered to be fleeting and temporary.
FU'GITIVE, n.
  1. One who fees from his station or duty; a deserter; one who flees from danger.
  2. One who has fled or deserted and taken refuge under another power, or one who has fled from punishment.
  3. One hard to be caught or detained.
Or catch that airy fugitive, called wit.
VAG'ABOND, a. [L. vagabundus, from vagor, to wander; from the root of wag.]
  1. Wandering; moving from place to place without any settled habitation; as a vagabond exile.
  2. Wandering; floating about without any certain direction; driven to and fro.
Like to a vagabond flag upon the stream.
VAG'ABOND, n. [supra.] A vagrant; one who wanders from town to town or place to place, having no certain dwelling, or not abiding in it. By the laws of England and of the United States, vagabonds are liable to be taken up and punished. (Genesis 4:13[KJV])
And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
  • Once the consequences of our actions hit home,we often realize too late that it really, in the end, was not worth it.
  • God can redeem a person from life of crime, but the victim in this case is to remain the victim.
  • Abel is still dead. His punishment was for being innocent of a crime, only to get the death penalty for it
(Genesis 4:14[KJV])
Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
  • There were other people on the earth then, enough that Cain was worried about getting the death penalty when the word gets out who killed Abel
  • "From thy face shall I be hid" may indicate that his fellowship with God is over, or he never really had it
  • There is no repentance here, so this indicates an unsaved man and his attitude
  • Cain has basically been sentenced to a prison without bars
(Genesis 4:15[KJV])
And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
  • God's sign of mercy on Cain
  • God is God and can impose whatever sentence He wills, and spares Cain the death sentence from Himself and even others
  • Any attempts to kill Cain now will be considered vengeance
(Genesis 4:16[KJV])
And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
  • An attempt at a normal life without God's presence
  • This is the best that this world has to offer in the end-separation from God, being accursed with a death sentence, restless, meaningless, uneasy, without peace with man and God, never to be heard much from again, wandering the earth alone, lost forever.
  • Cain is in The State Of Man, after the Fall
(Genesis 4:17[KJV])
And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

This is the last word on Cain

(Jude 1:11 [KJV])
Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

(Genesis 4:18[KJV])
And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.

(Genesis 4:19[KJV])
And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.

(Genesis 4:20[KJV])
And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.

(Genesis 4:21[KJV])
And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.

(Genesis 4:22[KJV])
And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.

(Genesis 4:23[KJV])
And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.

(Genesis 4:24[KJV])
If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.

(Genesis 4:25[KJV])
And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

(Genesis 4:26[KJV])
And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

Genesis Chapter 3

Genesis Chapter 3 (Genesis 3:1 [KJV])
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
  • Notice the subtilty in simply questioning and casting doubt on what God said to Eve
  • Notice also he said it to Eve, not Adam, who got the firsthand command and passed it to Eve
  • Was Adam absent? Nearby?
  • Did they know about the identity of the serpent?
  • Could other animals also talk?
(Acts 13:10 [KJV])
And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

(2 Corinthians 11:3 [KJV])
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

(2 Corinthians 11:14 [KJV])
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

(Luke 10:18 [KJV])
And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

(Genesis 3:2 [KJV])
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
  • So far so good
  • She seems neither surprised nor afraid that a serpent is talking to her.
(Genesis 3:3 [KJV])
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
  • She is literally thinking she is quoting God verbatim
  • He never said not to touch it. He, in fact, said the exact opposite
  • Eve is adding to the Word of God

ADAM CREATED, COMMANDED

(Genesis 2:7 [KJV])
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

(Genesis 2:15-17 [KJV])
And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

WOMAN FORMED AFTER

(Genesis 2:21 [KJV])
And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

(1 Timothy 2:12-14 [KJV])
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

(2 Corinthians 11:3 [KJV])
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

(Genesis 3:4 [KJV])
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
  • The enemy knew the command also, as he was there in the Garden
  • One word is changed, added and the serpent subtly tells Eve she either heard God wrong, or misunderstood Him- but for sure anything that will get them to eat from THAT tree is what is necessary
  • Ask yourself........why would satan want them to eat from that tree? Why would he care at all anyways? What is that to him?
  • Is it possible that the serpent thought that he would win man over to his side and gain his allegiance?
(Psalms 37:32 [KJV])
The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

(Ezekiel 28:13-15 [KJV])
Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

(Isaiah 14:12-15 [KJV])
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

(Revelation 20:2 [KJV])
And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

(Genesis 3:5 [KJV])
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

  • God said "thou shalt surely die"; He said nothing of the eyes being opened, being as gods, just dying
  • The name of the tree is the knowledge of good and evil, not "apple", cherry", "orange", "pecan"-which should have been a warning to them
(Genesis 2:17 [KJV])
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

(Genesis 3:6 [KJV])
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
  • It was edible, pretty
  • It was "desired" to make one wise, but the wisdom that comes from it is only worldly wisdom, not godly wisdom.....this was all in Eve's mind
  • Eve was deceived; Adam ate willingly, willfully, since he was given the command
(1 John 2:16 [KJV])
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

(Genesis 3:7 [KJV])
And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
  • The knowledge of nakedness is the first thing mentioned
  • The knowledge brings shame which must be dealt with
  • The fig leaves today are not the same as the Pre-Flood ones
(Genesis 3:8 [KJV])
And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
  • They are hearing the voice of the shepherd
  • The fig leaves are not enough to hide themselves totally, just their nakedness
  • They wish they could hide altogether from the LORD
(Proverbs 15:3[KJV])
The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. (Job 34:21 [KJV])
For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings. (Proverbs 5:21 [KJV])
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings. (Jeremiah 16:17 [KJV])
For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes. (Jeremiah 32:19 [KJV])
Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings: (2 Chronicles 16:9 [KJV])
For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.

(Genesis 3:9 [KJV])
And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
  • Time to fess up.
  • God knows where they are at all times.
  • He still desires fellowship with the first couple, even though they have disobeyed.
  • This same pursuit continues today
(John 4:23 [KJV])
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

(Genesis 3:10 [KJV])
And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
  • Previously he would have heard the LORD'S voice and come to have fellowship
  • Previously he would not be afraid
  • Previously he did not know what nakedness was, which is why they never tried to cover it
  • Previously he would not have hidden
(Genesis 3:11 [KJV])
And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
  • "Where are you" is now "What did you do?"......more confession
  • Adam was responsible, so he is questioned first
  • Again, without someone telling them they were naked, they did not even realize it, without sin present
  • God repeats the command, and no place does it say again that they should not touch it at all
(Genesis 3:12 [KJV])
And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
  • Man blames both God and his wife. God gave her this wife, and she gave him the fruit
  • Adam claims innocence (not my fault), and guilt (that I did eat)
  • So in essence, "I ate and it is not my fault"
(Genesis 3:13 [KJV])
And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
  • The LORD asks the woman second, to confess, because she was deceived, and Adam was not
  • The woman gets it right, but takes no blame for being deceived
(2 Timothy 3:13 [KJV])
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

(Genesis 3:14 [KJV]) And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
  • No questioning necessary, because the enemy is already a fallen creature, sinful, evil
  • Asking any questions would have brought a lie anyways
John 8:44
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

(Genesis 3:15 [KJV])
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
  • The enemy will hate Israel (enmity between thee and the woman)
  • The enemy will hate Jesus Christ (enmity between thy seed and her seed)
  • The enemy will suffer a fatal blow at the Cross (it shall bruise thy head)
  • The enemy will attempt to deal a fatal blow to the Messiah, and fail (thou shalt bruise his heel)
  • While it is possible that the serpent thought that he would win man over to his side and gain his allegiance, it turns out the opposite result came out of the fall

THE ENEMY WILL HATE ISRAEL (ENMITY BETWEEN THEE AND THE WOMAN)

All throughout Jewish history, in the Bible and after it, the enemy has tried desperately to destroy her:

(Esther 3:6-10 [KJV])
And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai. In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.
And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.
If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.
And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' enemy.

(Revelation 12:1-5 [KJV])
And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

ADOLF HITLER

As for the Jews, well, I can tell you quite frankly that one way or another we have to put an end to them. The Fuhrer once put it this way: if the combined forces of Judaism should again succeed in unleashing a world war, that would mean the end of the Jews in Europe. ...I urge you: Stand together with me ... on this idea at least: Save your sympathy for the German people alone. Don't waste it on anyone else in the world, ... I would therefore be guided by the basic expectation that they are going to disappear. They have to be gotten rid of. At present I am involved in discussions aimed at having them moved away to the east. In January there is going to be an important meeting in Berlin to discuss this question. I am going to send State Secretary Dr. Buhler to this meeting. It is scheduled to take place in the offices of the RSHA in the presence of Obergruppenführer Heydrich. Whatever its outcome, a great Jewish emigration will commence. But what is going to happen to these Jews? Do you imagine there will be settlement villages for them in the Ostland? In Berlin we were told: Why are you making all this trouble for us? There is nothing we can do with them here in the Ostland or in the Reich Commissariat. Liquidate them yourselves! ... Here are 3.5 million Jews that we can't shoot, we can't poison. But there are some things we can do, and one way or another these measures will successfully lead to a liquidation. They are related to the measures under discussion with the Reich.... Where and how this will all take place will be a matter for offices that we will have to establish and operate here. I will report to you on their operation at the appropriate time.[9]

THE ENEMY WILL HATE JESUS CHRIST (ENMITY BETWEEN THY SEED AND HER SEED)HIS PHYSICAL BODY MUST BE DESTROYED

(Matthew 2:16-18 [KJV])
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.

(John 19:15 [KJV])
But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

(Luke 23:21-24 [KJV])
But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go. And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed. And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.

HIS SPIRITUAL BODY MUST BE DESTROYED

(Acts 9:1-5 [KJV])
And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

THE BRUISING OF THE HEAD OF THE ENEMY

(Luke 10:18 [KJV])
And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

(Revelation 12:9 [KJV])
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

(Revelation 20:10 [KJV])
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

THOU SHALT BRUISE HIS HEEL

(Psalms 16:10 [KJV])
For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

(Matthew 28:6 [KJV])
He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

(Mark 16:6 [KJV])
And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

(Luke 24:6 [KJV])
He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

(John 20:1-10 [KJV])
The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.
Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead. Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.

(1 Corinthians 15:55 [KJV])
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

(Genesis 3:16 [KJV])
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

  • Pain in childbirth? Here is the reason. Women's physical issues? It starts here.
  • Eternal battle of the spouses in marriage? It starts here.
(Genesis 3:17 [KJV])
And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
  • He hearkened unto his wife instead of God He brought on the curse to the universe, the

Second Law of Thermodynamics

He was not deceived; Eve was, which is the greater sin-willful defiance not caused by deception

(Genesis 3:18 [KJV])
Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
  • The once lush greenery which was safe, easy to work with was suddenly going to become modified to be tough, thorny, difficult, arduous
(Genesis 3:19 [KJV])
In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
  • Work will be hard, man will sweat in the heat of the day
  • Man will henceforth die, with a 100% death rate
  • Genesis 2:17 is fulfilled
(Genesis 2:17 [KJV])
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

(Genesis 3:20 [KJV])
And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
  • Mother of all living, meaning she was not born, but created directly by God's Hand
(Genesis 3:21 [KJV])
Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
  • This was an animal sacrifice, before the command to eat meats, before the Law was given on sacrifices
  • For Adam and Eve to see this and have to wear this would have been a stark reminder of sin and death and the fall, the curse, the disobedience, the shame of nakedness, the punishment
(Genesis 3:22 [KJV])
And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
  • Mankind without God does not on his own know good and evil, he simply is unaware of it
  • This is one of the most merciful thoughts a loving God could have done, forgotten or not realized by so many
(Genesis 2:17 [KJV])
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

(Romans 7:9 [KJV])
For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

(Genesis 3:23 [KJV])
Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
  • If God had not decided to stop man from eating from the tree of life here.........
  • Man would have lived forever in this fallen state
(Genesis 3:24 [KJV])
So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
  • God knew that man would forever seek to eat of the tree of eternal life and find the "fountain of youth" on earth, to seek immortality
  • Wisdom is currently our best "tree of life"
(Proverbs 3:13, 18 [KJV])
Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding......
.....She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
