Isaiah Chapter 14

Isaiah 14:1
For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.

  • Prophecy for the Millennium
  • They went back to their land in 1948
  • Thus far, no strangers have ever really joined with them, not even the U.S., for long

Isaiah 14:2
And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.

  • Here enemies will finally serve them
  • Their wars will be over for good, at least for a thousand years.
  • At that time, God will again, for the last time, fight it for them

Revelation 20:7-9
And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

Isaiah 14:3
And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,

  • All that Israel ever wanted, bargained for, gave away land for, gave away prisoners for, gave away financial support for, freely given to them by their God
  • This is the perfect example of works versus grace

Isaiah 14:4
That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased!the golden city ceased!

  • This reference can be either Nebuchadnezzar or the anti-Christ, as the king of Babylon is a type of the anti-Christ and the Babylonian kingdom was very much like it:
    • Gold, for a head in Daniel
    • The Golden City of Babylon will exist, either as Rome, or not. Nevertheless, it will be the same city of mystery religions, as Mystery Babylon, and thus destroyed

Daniel 2:32
This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,

The head was Babylon.

Daniel 2:37-38
Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.

MYSTERY BABYLON:

Revelation 17:4
And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

Isaiah 14:5
The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers.

  • The ability to persecute and the very supports holding up Babylon, destroyed by God
  • Once that happens, the kingdom is done.

  9. In military affairs, an establishment of officers in various departments, attached to an army. The staff includes officers not of the line, as adjutants, quarter-masters, chaplain, surgeon, _c. The staff is the medium of communication from the commander in chief to every department of an army.
  10. A stanza; a series of verses so disposed that when it is concluded, the same order begins again. Cowley found out that no kind of staff is proper for a heroic poem, as being all too lyrical.
  11. Stave and staves, plu. of staff. [See Stave.]

Isaiah 14:6
He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.

  • When God brings down the wicked, their allies are helpless and scatter like rats
  • Besides, like it says, who can stop God?

Isaiah 14:7
The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.

  • This has never happened in man's long history after the Fall
  • Spontaneous worship erupts
  • Peace followed by praise, because of the knowledge of the LORD

  • The anti-Christ defeated, he shows up with the rest of the lost men, kings and all, in hell.
  • Just another eternal prisoner with a number....

Isaiah 14:10
All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?

  • All of this time men on earth believed the anti-Christ was a supernatural wonder, only to find out he as just flesh and bones, destined for hell
  • They still marvel and wonder, hence the questions......

Isaiah 14:11
Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.

  • Appearance and noise is all that he was-all just show
  • Worms, eating him alive, forever
Mark 9:44-48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Isaiah 14:12
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

  • This is the only occurrence of the word "Lucifer" in the Scriptures
  • Lucifer is well known among satanists, New Agers, but not found in many versions of the Bible
  • Instead, he is referred to here as "the morning star", which is doctrinally incorrect, as the Morning Star is the LORD Jesus Christ Himself

Isaiah 14:13-14
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

  • The enemy's issue with God is the same as man's, authority, sovereignty, power, rule
  • The intense blindness it took to think that a created thing can rise above its Creator
  • "Rise above", "Ascent into Heaven", "Exalt my throne", "Sit upon the mount", "Sit in the sides of the north", "above the heights of the clouds" (specifically above all of the earth-God's focus, all galaxies, celestial beings), "be like the Most High"- be just like God
  • All as a mere created being-this is the source of sinful pride and arrogance in man also
Ezekiel 28:12-15
Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

Ezekiel 28:16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Ezekiel 28:17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Ezekiel 28:18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. Ezekiel 28:19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.
